Uganda's data privacy rules are being rewritten, and we had something to say about it. On 1st and 2nd April 2026, Personal Data Protection Office, Uganda (PDPO) convened a validation workshop to review six draft instruments that will shape how personal data is handled across the country, covering: data retention, breach management, privacy by design, lawful processing, and more.

Our team led by Namugera Joel Peter, Andrew Mugambe and Hellen Juliana Ndagire prepared detailed comments across all six instruments and filed our submission with PDPO on 20th May 2026. This represents our contribution to what we hope will be a robust, practical, and rights-respecting regulatory framework for Uganda.
